什么是鱔稿?

 在香港,新聞稿被稱為「鱔稿」。原來,許多年前,香港當時的生活並不富裕,想出新聞稿,往往一頓飯便可解決問題。傳聞中,當時報館多位於香港中上環一帶。那裡有一家食府,以吃鱔為名。因利成便,許多人便在食府請報館吃飯。當然在菜單上,少不免吃鱔。故此,新聞稿俗稱為「鱔稿」,出新聞稿就俗稱「當大鱔」。時至今日,雖然生活富裕了,工作規範化了,加上香港成立了廉政專員公署,請吃鱔的事情不再發生,但許多客戶仍舊出新聞稿。

例如:北方人吃的鰻魚,粵港人吃的白鱔,過去因為要靠天然野生,在河裡捕獲才有得吃,所以非常珍貴罕有。香港報業有句行話,叫做「鱔稿」,即是做免費廣告,在文章或新聞報道中有幾句,為某人某事某物宣傳一番,這個「鱔稿」,原來真的是與吃鱔有關的。

話說每年秋風起,不但三蛇肥,而且,海鮮也挺肥美的。有一種鱔魚,叫「錦江大花鱔」,重的有十多斤,「大花鱔王」真正可達二三十斤。當時,傳媒、廣告並不像今日如此發達,由於這些大花鱔售價很貴,一般都吃不起,把鱔?了,萬一賣不了,酒樓便要虧本,唯有請相熟的作者、記者飲茶吃飯,拜託他們在文內宣傳一下:某某酒樓,已為老饕搜獲一條大花鱔,定於某月某日生?,大約多少錢一份,如何烹法,如何滋補有益,這在行內叫做「放鱔」、「鱔稿」、「發鱔稿」。

所以, 所谓的鱔稿就是”免费宣传“ 。 老实说,除了用部落格, 所谓的”免费宣传“其实是有代价的。

What is Eel articles

In Cantonese, when articles on the newspaper/magazine are mean to promote some commercial products, they are called “Eel articles” (Cantonese spelling : Sinn Goul ).

Once upon a time in Hong Kong, Eel are expensive fish. Joe public are not afford to buy it. When a restaurant bought some eel, they must get the news out. So the restaurant will give free dinning(off course not the Eel dishes) to popular writers or reporter, in order to ask their favor to write articles to promote their eel dishes, e.g. mentioned the restaurant name, the weight of the eel, the cooking method and the price.

Thus, Hongkee nickname review article as “Eel article”.
