From wikipedia.

Luciano Pavarotti (October 12, 1935 – September 6, 2007) was an Italian tenor and one of the best known vocal performers in contemporary times, in the world of opera and across multiple musical genres. He was also noted for his humanitarian work, and received a medal from the UN High Commission for Refugees for his work related to refugees.

Italy , total population 59 millions, GDPz US$ 33,680 per capita. Total universities : 80. Today, Italy still the world design leader, not limit to cloth design. Yes, it is the home country of Ferrari. However, the cultural output of Italy, for example, Luciano Pavarotti alone, are the most valuable. Without the humanity Renaissance start in Italy, we will not see EU today.

Will Malaysia learn the real value of humanity and cultural assets? I doubt so. I don’t need a soothsayer to tell me that Malaysia 2008 budget is nothing but a bunch of politikus hardware infrastructure legacy building plan, minus all human building factor.

I am not surprise, it is the same get-rich-quick mindset that rooted since 80’s.
