If you well verse in Mandarin, subscribe the Chinese newspaper, you will see Bolehland mainstream media flood you with various countdown information about China Olympic preparation.

Alas, what the mainstream media refuse to tell you are PRICE behind each gold medals that won by China.

Yes, I mean price, not cost. Because the price pay for each medals involved more than just money, effort, flesh and even life.

Do you know that, to take as many gold medal in every international sport events,  China has spend billions annually to train  “elite” sport person.   “Elite” means, the sports are NEVER mean for the public, but went through a screening process, centralise training program that produce “star sportman/sportwoman” AKA. “China Sports factory”, or China sports machine as claim by Time Megazine.

When China nominate as the host for Summer Olympic 2008, China annual sport spending rose to US$ 714 millions (~RM 2.42 billions) . And cost for the sport facilities for Beijing Olympic 2008,  are estimated US$35 billions.

Money spending are just tip of the iceberg. To increase number of “successful” sportman/sportwoman in the long run, China start the athlete picking process from primary and secondary school children.  And potential candidates will send to close door training camp. In China, there is 3,000+  sports schools, and approximate 400,000 youth are involve in the trainining. The youngest are only 7-8 years old.

Time Magazine are told that those student are studying normal curriculum, while sport are secondary. But the journalist find no academic books.

And the reality, among 400,000 youth, few are able to success to the top.  80% who “graduate” or “resign” from the school, posses little literacy skill.  And some are wounded, handicapped or even paralyze during the training process.

Sports, has become the biggest bed of corruption breeding ground in China.  (If you recall RM200+ screw driver sold to Bolehland sport ministry)  Sports in China, become road to the riches for bureacrats who involve in the process.

Drugs abuse, are yet another popular instant solution promote by coaches. Some sport woman are even fed with male hormone pills. When the drug abuse problem exposed , China only secure 1 gold in swimming during 2000 Athen Summer Olympic. A huge contrast compare 14 golds in swiming in 1994 Rome Summer Olympic.

And some mother fucker Bolehalnd sport minister say he want to learn from China to produce gold medal winner.  KNNCCB!!!!

I don’t think this is limited to China. Still, despite all these I think China did a great job at training their athletes so it’s not really wrong to learn from them – learn the good stuffs and throw away the bad of course!
