Panasonic DMC LX3 :)
Got this camera ~RM1600, with a 4GB SDHC card. Panasonic DMC-LX3 are mean to compensate my good old DSLR weak macro, mediocre wide angle and handiness. And not to forget the image stabiliser features that cost user an arm and a leg for a DSLR lens.
F2.0-F2.8 , focal range of 24mm-60mm(35mm equiv.) make LX3 a handy all purpose camera. Zoom not really a big issues, since most occasion doesn’t involve closeup. If I want to shoot portrait, I can always use the F1.8 50mm to make the killer shots.
When Nikon get upper hand on DSLR with the entry range D40/D40x/D60, it give a hard time to other compact digital camera manufacturer to make the margin, since D40 (~RM1999) crack the yesteryear “pro-consumer” compact camera price range , from RM2500-RM3000 range, to less than RM2000, in less than 2 years.
Panasonic LX3 F2.0 24mm is not the first manufacturer that offer super wide angle with bright lens. However, the “megapixel-race” and high margin of compact digital camera, chase away the good optical physics.
